Genova/Italy. The city lies at the foot of the mountains an faces the Ligurian Sea. Genoa's heart is its port, around which the city has grown since the Middle Ages. Two griffins were included in the city's coat of arms in 1139 when the Repubblica di Genova started to mint coins. They represent the power of the city and the protection of its richness.
